Sonicwall not connecting over bridge mode with static IP but worked with dynamic?

Have a weird situation on one site where the Sonicwall TZ400 can no longer connect to the internet, but only since the static IP was assigned to it from the ISP.

The issue only arose when the site received a static external IP from Eir, the ISP (Ireland) about 3 weeks ago, which we had been waiting on. Previous to that, we had the modem in bridge mode, fully operational with the sonicwall.

As soon as we got the Static IP the connection just dropped completely and refused to come back online unless we put the modem back out of bridge mode, then it works again. But we obviously need bridge mode.

I was informed by an Eir support technician on the phone that it seemed to be coming on for 3 seconds and dropping and it seemed to be an authentication issue, but that they don’t support the router being put in bridge mode so he could not help.

The thing is, many many of our sites, and our competitors sites, and sites I managed in my previous role, many have eir lines in bridge mode with static IPs that work fine. But in just this one case, this line does not, indicating something different on Eir’s end. But they won’t talk to us about it as they don’t support bridge mode in any circumstances.

We even went so far as to borrow fully functional router and firewall from another site with the same setup where it worked there, and connected it to the client site where it failed to connect.

We have spent hours on the phone to sonicwall support, insisting to them it must be the sonicwall. They looked at everything, there was little that could be changed anyway but the setup was all standard, and worked fine with a dynamic IP so no reason on our end it should not work with a static IP.

Has anyone come across this?
