Hey folks.
Apologies if this is a real basic question for you, I'm not an network engineer and am struggling a bit and need a little advice.
I have a device (Mi Box Android based media centre) - that is currently on Android 8.
If it updates to Android 9, it removes features I need.
I'm thinking what I need to do is set up a hotspot on my laptop, and have it connect to the internet through that hotspot.
Then, use some kind of application that lets me decide which sites it has access to.
I want to give it access on a case by case basis - so I know upfront it will need Netflix, Amazon access etc.
But I effectively want to block anything I don't allow, thus preventing it from getting the Android updates that it automatically tries to get.
I know there's software for your pc you can use to do this for your pc itself, but I'm struggling to work out what I need to put these rules in place for anything using the hotspot I create.
Very grateful if someone can point me at something which might do the job, or let me know if it's not possible at all.
Thanks a lot
