Why IPv6 routing (MP-BGP) is hard to find on small capacity (10 - 60Gbps) routers? -- Looking for a router with MP-BGP & 10 - 60 Gbps routing capacity for ~$1500

Hey there folks.

We need an IPv6 BGP (MP-BGP) supported router. I’m starting a local ISP in a housing site with no plans of scaling up.

Internet traffic and traffic between customers will hardly reach 10Gbps and there will be a max of 410 customers. So we're looking for a router with 10 - 60Gbps routing capacity and 4 SFP+ interfaces.

We're going to use Cisco's Catalyst PON solutions so I'd like to go full Cisco if we can. I like Cisco’s NCS 520, but MP-BGP isn’t supported.

There's NCS 540X-8Z16G-SYS which is released on 28th Feb 2021 with MP-BGP support. However, it's 4 times more expensive than NCS 520 on global price list.

N520-X-4G4Z-A $2,810 N540X-8Z16G-SYS-A $10,028

I asked Juniper MX5 and MX10 with upgrade license which permits use of 4 SFP+ interfaces. Waiting for a price.

I also like Mikrotik's CCR1036-8G-2S+EM. But there's only 2 SFP+ ports on it.

I checked Nokia Routers but the ones that support MP-BGP start from 240Gbps routing capacity.

Waiting for a price on Ericsson's 6672 Router which has 100Gbps routing capacity.

I'm surprised there's no MP-BGP support on small capacity routers on brands like Cisco, Nokia, where we can't do IPv6 routing. As a small ISP who wants to deploy IPv6, finding a router has been a huge pain for us.

Are there any models/brands you can recommend that supports MP-BGP at ~$1500 price range?

Many thanks.
