Grounding Cat6A cable.

Looking for people with experience and knowledge of this subject. The hows and the whys. My research has been unhelpful thus far.

How/where do I ground the cable?!

I've read tons of conflicting and ultimately unhelpful information:

  1. Ground the source end only.
  2. Ground both ends.
  3. You don't need to ground since devices at both end won't connect to shield.
  4. You MUST ground any cable that goes outside PERIOD (due to static buildup).
  5. Use fiber (not gonna happen, everything already purchased).
  6. Connect to nearest electrical ground.
  7. Don't connect to electrical ground, run a ground wire to Telco ground at building terminus.
  8. If needed, how do I ground the keystone connector as it's isolated from the box?

Details:

  • Approx. 50' run of Cat6A shielded cable.
  • Approx. 25' will be run outside on building.
  • Both terminals are inside of same building.
  • Terminating with shielded Cat6A Keystone jacks.
  • Devices on either end do not connect to the shield of Cat6A jack and will be connected with unshielded patch cables.
  • I have plenty of experience running/terminating ethernet, first time dealing with exterior cable.

Thanks in advance for any info/advice.
