How does ospf work over a trunk interface

Hello,

At my job we have ospf running on some of our layer 3 switches.

They have vlan 10 and vlan 20 enabled to run ospf, and then those vlans are allowed to trunk through the layer 3 switch to our distribution switch up to our core switch which they share a neighborship with.

The distro switch is running as layer 2. How does ospf know how to form an adjacency between the core switch and trunk interface for those vlans? Don’t those vlans have to be setup as switch ports for each vlan and then connect to the core?
