Any way to achieve more than 40Gbps firewall throughput with just using virtual firewalls?

Hi All

Just had a question to ask if anyone has come across a scenario where rather than using large physical firewalls, we could get similar performance but with using virtual firewalls only instead. How would you build out such a solution for this case?
