Hi all,
We have a handful of Cisco Nexus 9K switches interconnected with a couple of routed subinterfaces (one per VRF). We're doing OSPF and iBGP over these subinterfaces (VRF-lite, no MPLS - only 2 VRFs at this point and no expectation for growth).
We're trying to monitor this setup with LibreNMS, which is partially successful so far. Generic monitoring (device health, physical interfaces, etc) is done via the dedicated mgmt interface.
However, for the other stuff (routing & subinterfaces) LibreNMS doesn't seem to be "natively" VRF-aware, so we got some tricks from Google to make at least the routing monitoring working correctly:
- SNMP contexts mapped to both the VRF and OSPF routing instance, monitored via a Loopback interface in the respective VRF.
- You have to use an alternative hostname (or use the IP of the loopback) to force the device into LibreNMS, othewise it will complain about duplicates.
However, we've been unable to get any interface statistics on the subinterfaces.
In all VRFs, it only shows the stats on the physical interface.
So the question - has anyone been successful in monitoring subinterfaces in different VRFs with LibreNMS?
Thanks, and happy new year :)
