Technically are we required to know everything now?

Hi all,

I’m trying to crowd source some knowledge, i have been sitting in interviews for a new team member. I’m currently the only network guy in my organisation this has just been because of attrition over the last 5 years and management not approving hiring.

In the interviews (and the job posting) it seems like we are asking for literally everything. Can you code can you use cloud infrastructure how much do you know about security.

And the bar they are setting is crazy high. Considering we are looking for someone to do basic route and switch.

Ive noticed a trend where it seems we are ment to know everything and there is a lot of posts on here particularly that mention “what should I learn to land a basic networking job”, does anyone else feel that it’s getting a little out of control?

Thanks!
