Had eve-ng running on a 1U server but fan noise made it less than ideal for home use. After a bit of research, I settled on the ASRock DeskMini H470 as the next platform. Last week all the components arrived and I got to work putting the kit together and installing eve. The DeskMini H470 performance is impressive with maxed memory (64G) and 10 cores on the i9 chip.
The drama is getting eve-ng installed. On step 3.5.1 of the eve-cook-book, the system presents the user with blue screens to set the root pass, VM hostname, and management IP. The blue screens never comes up and the system can’t be accessed via ssh. The storage LED indicator flashes letting me know something is happing but nothing else.
After chatting with eve-ng support, I was provided an alternate install procedure where the user installs Ubuntu 18 SVR then installs eve with wget. I followed those instructions as well with the same result - no blue screens.
On Saturday one of the eve-ng support staff took time to run the install remotely - twice. Same result - no blue screens both times.
This morning I swapped monitors and tried both the bare install using the eve-ng ISO AND the second procedure using w-get after installing Ubuntu 18. Same result both times.
Anyone else running into this issues? The DeskMini H470 is new but the line has been around for some time.
