I have started working as a tech support for a big telecom company in my country, as the primary telecom operator in our country we are owned by Deutsche Telecom, currently we only have adsl, vdsl and fiber optic networks. The fiber optic coverage is really low in the suburbs and the villages most of the user we have still are on ads l receiving 12 mbp/s dl speed and 05. mpb/s up which is really really bad if you personally ask me. I have been doing a research, i found couple of research papers about Europe's fiber optic coverage etc, also i have spent around 2 years living in USA where i received 150/150 speeds through coaxial cable. I am trying to determine why our company didn't decide to go the coaxial cable route instead of the adsl where the bandwith you get in 2020 is like you're leaving in 1995. Is it more expensive to maintain coaxial cable infrastructure, is it less expandable. From what i have experienced you get far more bandwidth on coaxial similar to fiber optics. I know that eventually we will get to full fiber optic coverage which is the future, but it seems like our company is very slow to invest in fiber optics coverage. What is your opinion on this ?
