Is this a good deal for low end servers for starting a small hosting company?

I am currently a university student wanting to learn about server administration as well as wanting to start up a small hosting business, I recently found out my friend who had recently graduated is looking to sell his server equipment. That hasn’t been used or upgraded in a while but is more than happy to sell them to me for roughly $700 AUD.

He owns 2 machines that have the following specs:

Intel Xeon - E3-1230v2,

32GB DDR3,

4 x 3TB Storage (assuming they are SSD’s)

After a bit of research the CPU is 8 years old and as of now, and I cannot verify its current state which I find a little concerning. Secondly the it’s maxed out at 32GB of DDR3 RAM which again is a little worrying as newer machines run with DDR4/DDR4-ECC.

So I would like to ask is this hardware worth the investment to start out with to use for business use or just worth buying for the sake of learning server management?

Also what hardware/solution would be a better alternative for business use?
