I've worked in IT for about 4 years now, working at two different Managed Service Providers (MSP) for about 3 years and now working for an enterprise company.
In the last 2-3 years, both jobs I've had have used Cisco Umbrella for DNS security and I've seen this "Yellow Triangle" issue in multiple environments. Essentially, the issue for those who are not familiar is that the network icon (Ethernet or wireless) sometimes gets a yellow triangle over it to indicate there is limited network connectivity. We have determined that when this issue occurs, we are still able to surf the web, ping external sites & even resolve IPs to names.
The problem is when this issue occurs, Outlook & Onedrive will stop updating/syncing because they assume there is no internet on the laptop due to this "Yellow Triangle". We believe the issue is purley cosmetic, but have been unable to isolate the cause of the issue (Network, Cisco Umbrella or just the PC itself). Just for clarification, this issue is occurring only on wireless at my organization.
I've found a few articles online regarding this, such as this one https://support.umbrella.com/hc/en-us/articles/230900948-Umbrella-Roaming-Client-Microsoft-Windows-Limited-Network-Connectivity-Warning-Yellow-Triangle- but I am curious to see if anyone on this subreddit has seen and solved this issue and can possibly explain in greater detail what causes it.
