So i am a network engineer for a company that is an Aruba partner, my job is to help managing network other people have built and fix issues on their network.
I've done some other certification for firewalls and wireless, but now i want to get certified for routing and switching. I actually want to get CCNA/CCNP and i want to discus this during my next job evaluation ... but i expect my company is going to push me into the Aruba ACSA/ACSP direction (because they are a Aruba partner) and i dont think i want that.
The main reason i want CCNA/CCNP is because i believe it is making my personal value as a network engineer higher (then Aruba cert). I think Cisco certifications are higher valued, more well-known and appreciated more, but my company doesn't necessarily benefit from that because they are Aruba branded and they think ACSA/ACSP contains the exact same topics/skills plus they get partner benefits.
I am mainly looking for facts or information that i can convince my manager with. I've come up with the following:
· Besides Aruba, we still manage a lot of Cisco Devices and i need to get more in depth knowledge with cisco proprietary stuff like EIGRP, their ASA and WLC stuff.
· The new CCNA/CCNP helps me with getting an introduction into network automation.
Or am i wrong to think that CCNA/CCNP gives me more value?
