Ok, so first off, I'm not 100% sure this is the right sub for this, so if not, my apologies and please let me know a better place to submit this (I thought about /r/homelabs but wasn't sure).
So I am at a complete loss and have NO clue what is going on or how to fix this. I do not know networking very well, if at all, so I'm just fumbling through Google and after 3 days, I'm tapped out. The short story is that I can't get any VM I put on a vlan internet access.
My setup is currently modem/router -> managed switch (Netgear gs308e) port 2.
Server PC:
- vmnic2 -> switch port 8
- vmnic3 -> switch port 4
I have 2 vlans on the switch (native vlan 1 and created vlan 20). Here's how those 2 vlans look on the switch gui:
- vlan overview
- vlan1 members
- vlan20 members
- pvid configuration (I have port 2 as T on both as port 1 doesn't allow cables to "snap" in.
ESXi port groups/vswitches look like so:
So, all of that to say that anything on vSwitch0 with a vlan id of 0 works, no problem. If I add a vlan id to a port group, no internet.
Nothing on vSwitch1 can access the internet, period. Static IP or DHCP, I can't ping anything.
I've tried adding a vmk1 with an IP of 192.168.20.1 and putting Lab Environment port group and vSwitch on it, which lets me ping other VM's on that group (If I remember correctly), but stops working once I tag it vlan ID 20. The issue seems to be involving vmnic2 and/or port 8 on switch, but I'm just throwing guesses in the dark.
Please, for the love of ALL that is holy in this world, what am I missing here?!?!
