BGP Router recommendation

Hello all, we are in the process of maintaining our own full BGP routing table as we got our own AS, and was wondering if our 2 existing Cisco ASR1004 could do the job of keeping all routing tables just fine without performance issues? A consultat suggested us to go for the new Cisco ASR1001 but we would avoid spending 35K only for routing tables management.

What is your experience with this? Should i consider some limitations for the ASR1004 performance wise? As a Unix/Linux sysadmin myself experienced no issues in the past dealing with bgp routing and using a cheap BSD machine.

Are there any other good Cisco options other than ASR1004 that wont cost as much as the new ASR1001?

Thank you all in advance!
