I am trying to install an SSL cert for a cisco wireless controller using an online PKI (Godaddy, Verisign, etc). The problem is that they need to verify the domain owner. The wireless controller FQDN is "WLC.Corp.int" whereas the domain we own online and use for email is corpna.com.
In order to verify I am the owner of this domain they would send an email to postmaster@corp.int which I wouldn't be able to access because we only use that name for our Active Directory/local domain, not email.
My question is can I just change the hostname of the WLC to reflect the domain that we own public and get email to and therefore get the cert from Verisign/Godaddy?
New name Example: WLC.corpna.com
I haven't though of a reason why this wouldn't work but would like some advice before moving forward.
