I am trying to do the following:
The only things I'm particularly concerned about right this moment is getting any single device on the L3 switch through to the internet.
I have not tried to go OSPF as of yet, but I figured I wouldn't have to.
The thought here is that the L3 switch can handle intervlan routing, and all other traffic can go to the ASA and it can handle inbound/outbound traffic accordingly.
Talking basic, basic settings, because I haven't been able to get this to go work right. ASA's weren't on my resume, but I'm expected to be able to do them with no experience with them (WELL ASA'S ARE NETWORK RIGHT? YES AND NO. THEY'RE A SECURITY APPLIANCE THATS ALSO A ROUTER.). So I figure if I can get one running at HOME, then I can at least get more of the base understanding.
Frightening thought, I've been working on ASA's for months adding/removing specific settings as needed, but I have never brought one up from scratch. That's a problem. I beg of assistance to resolve this.
If someone can post the absolute bare necessities required to get a 3750G (or similar) to talk to a 5520 ASA (or similar) and get traffic from any vlan on the 3750 out to the internet through the modem, I will figure out how to gift many internet points. If possible, be especially verbose so I know what each thing does specifically for reference.
I have read two books on ASA's, and multiple videos and multiple sources from Cisco, and gotten it to the point of being able to ping out to google, but I cannot for the life of me make this stupid thing work for anything else.
Adding DDNS into it (which I thought I had good to go) only adds to it. I need to be able to do VPN in/out as well.
Please no hate.
