Hi, we are looking to add a level of redundancy to our ELAN service which we use to deliver video content to multiple different locations across the US. It’s layer 2 service and all sites sit on a “virtual switch”.
I would love for a way to be able to connect AWS Direct Connect directly into my ELAN so that all sites now have access to this.
Has anyone done this before? I spoke with my service provider and they are saying that AWS won’t allow them to do this because “they aren’t allowed to setup the .1Q VLAN for me”. But if I could get AWS to authorize it and agree then they could just do this for us.
The alternative in my mind is buying a colo somewhere my service provider has access and quite literally connecting an ELAN port and a Direct Connect port to a common switch. Not the most glamorous or exciting solution though, plus there’s the colo costs.
