Hi all
I have been commissioned to deploy a temporary network for a Scout campsite for a 7-day event. The event will have three main teams, Admin, Media and Radio. The campsite has a network and a 20/8 satellite internet connection, this network only runs to some of the buildings on the site, which is situated in a dense wood. I plan to run the Admin team on the network currently on the site as they will be based in a building where there is a switch and spare ethernet.
The other two sites will be in buildings where there is no network.
My first thought was PtP wireless backhaul, I have an extensive set of Ubnt PtP and PtMP link kits but the woods are too thick for this, next up 4G, there is excellent 70mbps+ 4G connectivity in the area. EE (UK) sell these Netgear Nighthawk 4G gateways. https://business.ee.co.uk/mobile-broadband/netgear-nighthawk/?b=&c=&s=&o=
I'm hoping someone has used them before and can confirm if the wireless can be switched off on it? And also if the "20 user limit" is only limited to wireless connections? Also, do they support port forwarding/dNAT?
I plan to one connected to a single 48p PoE switch to provide connectivity to the local team (media or radio).
Thanks
CCL
