Why are we still on IPv4?
IMO, we could have easily moved to IPv6 by now if only the src/dst IP portion of the header was changed.
But nooooo....we had to go and change the entire operation of IP with ICMPv6, MLD, etc.
At this point, I am convinced that the only way to convert to IPv6 worldwide is government mandate, or allow me to coin my idea as "IPv7" (or whatever is next) and rollout changes asap. Seems simple enough, unless I'm overlooking something critical.
It would mean all those long years of hard work on IPv6 would be put in the bit bucket. Still better than not converting though.
