I picked up a older 8024 to break in 10G for some storage I have. These are the 20 port 10g Ethernet and 4 dual personalty sfp/Ethernet ports. I've run into some issues I've never had before using other switches/iscsi/1g Ethernet using the same devices.
I created a test vlan (7) and untagged ports 11-20 and port 23/24. I setup a test vswitch on my vmware host (SRV1), bound my sfp nic and cabled in to the 24 sfp port on the switch using a sfp/dac cable.
One of my storage units (SU1) is connected via cat6a cable to port 17/18 The other storage unit (SU2) is connected via cat6a to port 12 All are be in the same vlan, all in the same subnet.
I should note, everything was working fine on 1g switches. All that's changed is cables and the switch. No firewalls, etc in this test environment.
SRV1 can ping SU1 SRV1 can't ping SU2
SU1 can't ping either SU2 or SRV1
SU2 can see both SU1 and SRV1
The 8024 was reset factory and updated to the latest firmware when I got it. Its a basic vlan setup and nothing else, I was trying to take this back to basics to ensure I wasn't missing anything but this is bizarre.
Thanks for any insight.
