CCNP Renewal: How long does the CCDA/DP take these days?

So the grand plan was, get my CCDA exam out of the way a few months before my CCNP expires, then move to the CCDP for the renewal and extra cert. CCNP expires on December 11th, plenty of time to do that "later on", says January me. This was planned this way because I can justify to my employer that I'm renewing my CCNA Security (which is needed for the contract we're on) with the DA, and renewing my CCNP (which is required for my position on the contract) with the DP.

Then I got sidemoted and my workload nearly doubled in May, and it's taken until about 2-3 weeks ago to settle into normalcy. Now I've got 3 months to get it squared away. My options are as follows:

  • Stick with The Plan, get CCDA hammered out by mid-October, ramp up and get CCDP before deadline.

  • Flip the plan, do CCDP test to get the renewal, go back and backfill the CCDA to get the DP cert. This means I may have justification issues.

  • Take another P-level cert that is interesting and relatively straightforward to get. I haven't really looked at any of the options lately so I don't know what's single-test and what's not.

  • Say the hell with it, and renew using TSHOOT.

Most of my concern is centered around study time; last time I renewed I had enough leeway to study on work hours to some extent, and that's really not likely to be much of an option now, despite being better situated for it (working from home now). If people think CCDA by mid-October and CCDP by the end of November is doable, I'll go that route, I just don't know how or if it's gotten any harder with the last revision. I'll have about 5 hours a week I can get in for study time, at a minimum.
