First, I dabble in networking, mostly setting up reliable home routers and access points. I haven't done anything quite like this so I'm curious what you all think.
I've got a client that has a Frontier DSL connection and even with multiple service calls, they seem to get 2mbps down and who knows what for upload. So, when they need to do serious work, they tether their iPhone from AT&T. Good speeds through the phone but a limited amount of data. Opposite is true for Frontier. I've had good luck with UniFi EdgeRouter X's recently and thought about a dual-WAN setup. The reason I'm thinking of this is so that they have a more reliable network and don't have to swap all their computers over to the iPhone. There are network shares involved on the desktops and swapping networks breaks those.
For clarity, the "WiFi Router" would be a cheap Linksys/TP-Link running a stable DD-WRT.
