I'm kind of new to networking and have come across something I'm not to sure about. I have been researching this and haven't really found an answer I'm looking for. We have a couple of Cisco 2960 switches in a stack using the SPF modules. We are adding another of the same type of switch but I was told to use a crossover cable rather than spending money on more SPF modules. So my question is what is the best way to go about this by using the crossover cable? Can I add the new switch to the stack with the cable and it join the stack (I'm leaning towards no on that one)? Or would I just connect it to the stack as a separate switch and use a different management IP entirely? Or could a switch cluster work using the new switch and the current stack?
