"Nasdaq recently informed customers that the high humidity caused by the recent heatwave in the New York City area was slowing down radio transmissions between three New Jersey data centres, leading to slower trading. Transmission between Nasdaq’s facility in Carteret to the New York Stock Exchange data centre in Mahwah was 8ms longer, and it was 2ms longer to the Cboe Global Market’s exchange in Secaucus."
I'm sure this affects HFT algo's (High Frequency Trading) and I wonder how global warming will affect the feasability of HFT radio links vs. long-distance fiber.
