Linux Bonding | active-backup mode

Hi all,

I have Linux Appliance (host1) i want to apply bonding in active-backup to it as it show in the below diagram.

is it applicable or do I need to change the design from the switches side ? the switches should be stacked switches ? or they can be connected to each other with special configuration.
