Hi all,
My former colleague configured an etherchannel (LACP) between two locations, each link provided by a different service provider. Don't ask me why not using L3 links - it is a Routed etherchannel and currently it's in production. If I was the designer surely I would have made it individual links.
DC engineer plugged out one of the media converter in one location during MW, expecting no downtime. However, there are intermittent connectivity issue between locations. When I checked, on the other side, the port was still up and in individual mode.
- I could understand why it went to I state, as the link is actually still up between the device and the media converter. It's just not receiving LACPDUs.
- However wasn't the default config be lacp suspend-individual?
- Was it that when the packet was hashed and went through the P (in-bundle) state port, traffic is up. When it went through the I state port, it gets dropped?
- Is it best practice to just enable lacp suspend-individual in this case?
