I have a symmetrical 350 Mbps fiber WAN connected to a TP-Link Archer C6 which has 1 LAN port connected to a Gigabit Switch and the other to a TP-Link Deco M4 Wireless Mesh system (as an Access Point) with a total of 5 units for an independent villa.
I was experiencing stuttering and drops when streaming videos across multiple PCs and devices on my network on WiFi.
As an experiment, connected my M4s directly to my WAN to see if things improved and that did not. They got worse.
Spoke to a friend who told me that with all my connections and devices, maybe I should look at the Edgerouter ER-4 for its routing capabilities which should avoid packet drops which are what might be causing the stuttering and buffering issues on my network.
Single stream Speedtest confirms 350 Mbps symmetrical on my desktop that's wired to my Gigabit Switch so raw speed isn't an issue.
Is the Edgerouter ER-4 overkill? Are there any better alternatives?
I'm not a networking guy so please keep it simple.
