Aruba APs crashing after 'ap convert' from AP to IAP

Is this working for anyone? I recently picked up a couple AP-325's off eBay with the intention of converting them to IAP using the 'ap convert' command. This blog describes the process.

I'm able to run the command on my virtual controller, and it shows upgrade complete. The AP also shows that it was successfully upgraded.

After upgrade, the AP (now running Instant OS) seems to boot fine - I'm able to log in via console and SSH.

As soon as I login to the UI, though, the AP crashes with a kernel panic due to running out of memory:

Reboot Reason: Reboot caused by kernel panic: Out of memory

I thought it may be a bug with the OS version, so I've tried several (8.6.0.8, 8.6.0.9, 8.7.0.3), by connecting over console and going into 'apboot>' then doing 'os upgrade'. Same exact behavior with all three OS versions, and I have this same behavior on two separate APs!

Totally out of ideas - am I missing something?
