Is Networking still a viable career path? Can you really make a profitable living in this career field? I think yes.
I pulled Q1 2021 H1B data from https://www.dol.gov/agencies/eta/foreign-labor/performance#dis and filtered results for positions with 'network' in the job title column.
For 167 network roles, the average pay was $120.8K not including stock or bonus which is significant. Average experience in months was 35, so just about 3 years which is not that bad considering most network roles ask for some ridiculous years of exp required such as 8+ for a low 60-90k paying job. Education was a split between Masters (52%) and Bachelors (46%), with less than 2% holding an Associate's or PhD.
