I install ip security camera systems, I typically use LTS brand. And I usually do not need any DDNS or port forwarding because of LTS having built in P2P cloud access. I do setup DDNS occasionally to get the full NVR menu to access images from License Plate Reader cameras. I have a site that has Spectrum Business providing them with an SMC modem and I know the local IP address of the modem is 192.168.44.1 and if I try to go to that ip address in a browser, it fails to load, I've tried multiple browsers, I never get to a log in screen. I have purchased a Ubiquiti managed 8 port switch and a Ubiquiti cloud key gen 1 to try to learn how to get remote access to LAN devices. I have no other equipment on site that I can TeamViewer or similarly remote into to access local devices. Am I on the right track with the ubiquiti equipment or should I be looking more into a VPN or just try to get the customer and their ISP on a phone call to get port forwarding setup so my typical DDNS will work. The DDNS has worked for me at plenty of sites before, but I do have other equipment that I use like the 201 series video intercom from LTS that doesn't work with DDNS, and if I can learn how to setup true remote access to a LAN I can manage these devices also. The only other way ( and I know it's not the optimum setup) that I have made this work is to buy a cheap small laptop and set it up with TeamViewer and make sure it never sleeps and mounting it in a weatherproof box. Thanks for reading and any advice.
