Hello everyone
I'm doing some netwokring in our department for a few years now. The other day I faced a very stange situation. I saw on devie A the address was set to 172.17.250.91/255.255.0.0 on device B the address is set to 172.17.250.11/255.255.240.0.
By accident a collegue has set the subnetmask incorecctly on device B. I now am wondering how these devices weven are able to communicate.
As far as I know on the IP protocol there is just the IP address sent with the package, no subnetmask.
Am I right about that? The subnetmask will just be used for routing right?
