MTU size and climate change

Hypothetical question here! I claim absolutely no expertise in networking so please feel free to shoot me down.

After discussions with a friend, we talked about MTU size. I was wondering, if we switch to jumbo frames as standard overnight (with all their resulting efficiencies), could this have a positive impact on climate change? This is a purely a 'what if?' scenario!

My theory is that the increased efficiency due to lower overheads = less data packets needing to be sent overall, meaning reduced energy usage and therefore less energy spend from networks.

I'm interested to hear anyone's thoughts on whether this would actually work, and what would the associated challenges be?
