About 6 months ago my company activated two new corporate internet connection in an active / standby configuration, so we're using one 1Gbps internet link. However, we're also deploying more and more laptops with a VPN solution. While this is working fine so far, I see the usage of the internet connection increase rapidly.
Now, what I can't figure out is the actual up- and downstream speed of the 1Gbps internet link. Does 1Gbps mean the sum of the downstream and upstream traffic, or do I get 1Gbps dedicated downstream, and can I simultaneously utilize 1Gbps upstream? I tried to find it in my providers (Vodafone) documentations, but I couldn't find it.
I will contact my sales rep, but maybe you guys can tell me what is common in corporate internet connections?
