Router Replacement

I've recently finished school and just started a new job, and I've been asked to replace our routers. The routers are actually two CentOS 6.5 VMs running in a Ricci-Lucci cluster which responds to a single virtual IP. I think the VMs are hosted on a Dell R720 server running ESXi.

This design decision was taken years ago and I am unsure why they decided to go with this solution. The infrastructure budget doesn't seem that limited. I can only imagine that this isn't really performant, but I may be missing some understanding as I have little to no professional experience...

Fast forward till my arrival, the decision has been taken to replace these routers immediately. The only unused devices in our inventory are two fully loaded C9300s.

Am I right in assuming that the two C9300s will blow these virtual routers out of the park performance wise?
