My understanding is that in order for this to happen, the host or router must encapsulate a layer 3 packet in a layer 2 packet with the MAC address of the layer 2 destination (correct me if am wrong).
Does that essentially mean that the overall layer 3 has been modified or changed when transmitted on ethernet?
I am trying properly understand this, but I keep coming across conflicting information so I figured I would ask on here.
