Regarding GPONT ONT's Optical Module Temperature stats

So, we know if the temps are within the specs sheet, then it's a non-issue.

1. But what if the GPON ONT's Optical module is consistently nearing the limits or exceeds the limits of the specs sheet?
   1. Will high-temps of the optical nodule cause latency/bandwidth issues?
2. Theoretically, I'd like to think that high-temp of the optical module would force the device to thermal throttle to some extent or something of that sort?

I'm unable to find any documentation/academic source regarding this.
