Low power and rugged option for in-car GoogleFi

Per the subject, I currently have one of these that I am using as a hotspot for a U1000 dashcam to allow live viewing and sending data/notifications while it is parked. I am powering it off of a Blackvue 124x which also powers both cameras when the car is off.

Specifically I am looking at cradlepoint, pepwave and sierra wireless devices but I not married to any of them and I am generally a bit out of my league in terms of experience with this kind of gear. I have never really worked with power/environmental constraints like this and my background is more on the systems side, not networking.

Requirements:

  • 3 devices connected at a given time over 5g wifi (wired Ethernet is unnecessary but nice to have)
  • 24/7 connectivity (when the car is NOT occupied devices will still need connectivity)
  • draws low power and can be powered via aforementioned battery, comes up 'clean' from abrupt power loss (battery runs out of juice)
  • able to connect/manage it remotely via ip address (openvpn or wireguard is also fine)
  • can handle operating temp and have a good signal (planning to place it under a car tire)
  • works with google fi (tmobile)
  • No maintenance contracts for ongoing usage. I don't want to 'rent' features or have an infinite service plan to pay.

Ultimately I want a rock solid low maintenance device that 'just works'. I am willing to pay a premium, but I also don't need 'enterprisey' fleet mgmt features or the like. Would love to hear any else experience setting up something similar.
