I'm trying to get a 1-gig DIA circuit on a 10G port (for future expansion and possibly burstable billing), ILEC is Verizon, so nearly every provider would be using them for last-mile. Pricing is about $2200/mo for the 1-gig commit. Pretty hefty, and not much I can do about that. HOWEVER, the provider I've been working with tells me Verizon wants an additional $1800/mo just to upgrade the port from 1G to 10G. I feel like that's INSANE. Am I paying for a new CO? Am I nuts?
My best (educated) guess is that Verizon ran out of 10G interface ports and is trying to pass one over on me by attempting to make me pay to upgrade their switch at the CO.
Thoughts?
