How To Create A Virtual Access Point from Within VirtualBox that is Accessible on the Network?

For some testing, I need to setup a virtual access point. My current plan is to set this virtual host within a virtual machine using virtual box.

I create an ubuntu VM, and made a bridged network using the ethernet port. My VM is on the same LAN with the host, and there is connectivity.

Now on my VM using hostapd, I was able to set up a virtual access point. I see this virtual access point within the VM itself, but not on the host, or from other network on the LAN.

The other option I have seen is to use a USB wireless dongle, and access that from the VM and make that the access point. But I currently don't have access to a USB wireless dongle.

Is what I am trying to achieve possible?
