Site-to-Site VPN with the Same Subnet but different IP Addresses

We have a specific software on our server that requires all its users to be on the same subnet, otherwise, it won't work. And we need to give access to remote users from a branch office.

Now we have two locations, say, HO and Branch. If we somehow manage to set up the two locations with the same subnet (e.g. 255.255.252.0), but different IP addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.0/22 for HO and 192.168.2.0/22 for the branch), and connect the two networks over IPSec VPN, should that cause any problems?

In the given circumstances, the solution would be to bridge the two networks, but from what I understand, it is better to route rather than to bridge; but again since the subnet is the same, there is no routing to do. So what would be the best solution?
