Can someone explain SSL inspection?

Hi there, network noob here. Our company decided to roll this out and wanted to know what implications it means? Does this mean they’re just inspecting for malware and other things that could be hidden in ssl or does this mean if I log into websites via https they’ll be able to see my password in plain text or even my credit card info if I buy something online ?
