So we've ran into an issue where there's a site with a DIA provided by China Telecom. Traffic between that site and other sites in Asia is being routed all the way to the US and back.
Obviously that's not desirable, so we looked into it and it seems that ASN4134 doesn't peer anywhere in Asia.
There's gotta be some part of this I'm missing. The obvious thing folks around the office are suggesting is "something something great firewall" but I don't see how that would preclude peering inside of asia... if anything I'd have assumed that would make it hard to get to them from the US, not that traffic inside of asia would HAVE to go to the US first, etc...
Is there some other carrier sites in China that expect to talk to the rest of asia should use?
(to be clear, I'm not directly involved in the procurement here, this is a service provided to one of our customers by some other carrier, so my interest here is mostly curiosity)
