Advise for network monitoring tool

We are currently looking for new and better network monitoring & alerting tooling. Currently we're running LibreNMS and Observium, unfortunately we are not 100% satisfied with either of them.

LibreNMS is great, it has support for every device we want to use it for and a lot of great functionality. Unfortunately the alerting does not suit our use case. Libre sends a notification per alert rule instead of port. This means that if 10 ports are down on a device we'll receive one notification for all 10 ports. We much more prefer one notification per port.

Observium also works great for us but the lack of support for multiple devices is unfortunately becoming an issue, for instance our DWDM appliance is not supported.

Some of our requirements are:

  • Functionality for alerting
  • Graphing of network usage
  • Monitoring of CPU, RAM, fanspeeds, power usage (voltage, current) & BGP / OSPF
  • Preferably open-source

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated! Should anyone have any tips on how to make it so that LibreNMS send a notification per port down / port (channel) congestion etc. then this would also be greatly appreciated :)
