Please help me understand if I am thinking correctly.
Also if this is the wrong sub to post please kindly point me in the correct direction.
I have a client who has a around a 5k budget for a security camera system.
I am leaning towards the ubiquiti line as I would like to push this line moving forward in the future. For cameras and network devices. (Pretty much want to utilize ubiquiti and miraki for different use/budget cases)
Of course I have decided to lean towards the g3 lineup with 16 cameras on the network.
It would come down to either A: synology nas B: Ubiquiti NVR
(Either way a NAS will be utilized as one backup solution in the mix. So added to the network)
!!Problem is the 18mbps.!!
Now here is what I'm thinking or rather my understanding.
I am setting the client up with a firewall (SG-1100 and pfsense)
I will create Vlans for each network section (file server, ip cameras, guest, nas, 1 bed room apartment attached to building...)
Do the Vlans fix the mbps issue?
Lock IP cams to lan only. And setup teamviewer to view remotely when needed rather then streaming over network.
The the same with the future nas (same time rather maybe) lock it down to internal only and transfer offsite after hours.
Is this the correct, or a correct use for vlans?
Edit: I understand LAN shouldn't have any issues especially with vlans being utilized. I'm wondering though then do I have any actual issues? Or can someone shed some knowledge on what could be potential issues moving forward?
