Hey guys, essentially what I'm asking is if there are any common hiccups or flags to watch out for when implementing an RSTP setup as it's my first time.
A little background on me: BA in Network Technologies, a couple years in IT now working in Building automation.
Since I have some networking knowledge I have been chosen to work on my first customer job. Later this week i'm going to go out and program a couple of switches from Phoenix Contact (I only mention because it's not Cisco) and several RSTP rings of dual-NIC Automation Controllers. Specifically 8 rings, maximum of 26 devices per ring. The switches are RSTP enabled and it seems simple enough to setup. If I understand correctly one of the advantages of RSTP is that you don't necessarily have to setup each device individually, as long as they are RSTP enabled BDPDU's will handle the root.
We have done some initial in-house testing but not with the full number of devices and obviously not on-site. So if anyone has any notes based on what's here or general things to look out for let me know. Thank you!
