Simple MPLS question

So I'm learning about MPLS and have a quick question. I have setup a MPLS VPN between two sites (customers are on their own VRF). But if I do a traceroute between the two sites (CE routers) I see my core routers along the way. Is this normal? I thought it should look like a direct connection (just one hop). Here is the result of the traceroute:

CE1#traceroute 192.168.1.1 Type escape sequence to abort. Tracing the route to 192.168.1.1 VRF info: (vrf in name/id, vrf out name/id) 1 172.16.50.1 12 msec 4 msec 12 msec 2 10.0.1.2 [MPLS: Labels 17/21 Exp 0] 36 msec 40 msec 40 msec 3 172.16.51.1 [MPLS: Label 21 Exp 0] 12 msec 40 msec 36 msec 4 172.16.51.2 68 msec 48 msec 52 msec

I've never been on the customer side of MPLS either, I've always used E-LAN's or Metro Ethernet. Just layer 2 stuff. If this isn't how it should look then I can post configs etc.

Thanks!
