Hey everyone. I have a growing company with a growing user base and approaching 20M in revenue. We are a quarry, and have lots of cameras, access control needs, IP Phones, POS Systems, you name it, I have to support it.
I was looking for some advice on moving to a layer 3 network. as my "flat" network was outgrown, and my VLANs all transition "through" my Meraki MX80 right now. And I don't think it is scalable with my IP cams, IP phones, 250mbit Internet, and VM server traffic always growing. I am looking for thoughts and suggestions.
Here's a rudimentary map of my network. All of it runs at 1 gigabit right now. No 10 gigabit. Though my fiber between buildings is all SC-SC OS2 SM.
I feel like I have a weird problem. I don't have my servers in the retail office/dmarc room because of dust. And the dust isn't really a solvable issue there. So if I get a layer 3 switch, I don't know where to put it. Would I put it in the administrative office, where my heavier users are? Or in the retail office? Then all of the traffic in the administrative office is switched on layer 2? Or do I just need to buckle down on my budget and get two layer 3 devices? Or am I thinking wrong all together?
Guidance and advice is appreciated. Thanks everyone!
