We have a p2p link between 2 DC's (subinterface/trunk to providers switch). As a temporary measure while we install additional infrastructure ive had to implement static routing with BFD to detect failure (due to it being trunk to switch we never see link goes down between 2 locations as its behind the provider switch).
Both subnets are publically IP'd. If BFD causes the route to get pulled they go over the oublic internet instead.
Is anyone aware of a way i can monitor that the private circuit is still up via SNMP? some kind of route traps, or BFD traps maybe?
