I'm currently running a DMVPN (dual hub & mGRE) with Cisco ISR rotuers. Many have redundant WAN links, which connect to our second hub in the main office. However, most of these routers are nearing or are at the end of their support cycle.
The DMVPN has worked great for us, and with dual WAN connections and BGP we have a pretty fast failover when a link goes down. My first instinct was to move to the ASR models to replace them, but this looks to be a bit more expensive than what had paid for the ISR's. Since this put me in a different price tier, I wanted to do some due dilligence on my options.
I know that there are a lot of new solutions that make centrally managing all of this much easier, and that would be nice... However, I see a lot of subscription fees for SD-WAN equipment, and this could quickly add up to a much higher cost than the ASR's.
So, if you guys were building a network from scratch today, what would you pick? I'm looking to match the stability and features of my DMVPN, but possibly with better costs and manageability. If you have any suggestions please post them. Thanks in advance for your comments!
